i have docker container mariadb installed. not using volumes.
[vagrant@devops ~]$ sudo docker volume ls driver volume name [vagrant@devops ~]$
now strange happening. when sudo docker stop
, sudo docker start
mariadb data still there. expected data lost.
btw when edit file example /etc/hosts
see expected behavior. changes file lost after restart.
how possible mariadb data persistent without volumes? shouldn't happen right?
docker stop
not remove container, neither docker start
create container.
docker run
create new container image.
docker start
starts container exist has been stopped before ( call pause/resume if ). start/stop no volumes required keep state persistent.
if though docker stop <name> && docker rm <name>
, docker start <name>
, error, container no longer exist - need docker run <args> youimage
